Handleless gloss

Lucente kitchens in Cheshire

A handleless high-gloss kitchen that bounces light around the room.

Lucente is our sleek, handleless gloss kitchen — slab doors with a deep, mirror-smooth lacquer and a routed grip rail in place of handles, so nothing interrupts the line of the run. It is the most light-reflective kitchen we make, which makes it a favourite for smaller or north-facing Cheshire rooms that need to feel brighter and larger.

About the Lucente kitchen

In Light Silver Grey gloss the room reads cool and gallery-clean; in White gloss it all but disappears into the walls; and in Deep Charcoal gloss it becomes dramatic and architectural. A thin bronze edge to the worktop or a bronze grip rail keeps it warm rather than clinical.

Design & character

Lucente is all about light. The deep, polished lacquer turns each door into a soft mirror, so a north-facing room in Northwich or a basement kitchen in Chester suddenly feels twice as bright. With no handles to interrupt the fronts, the eye runs uninterrupted along the whole run, which makes a small kitchen read as one clean, continuous surface rather than a series of boxes. It is the range we reach for whenever a client says their kitchen feels dark, cramped or dated and they want it to feel modern and airy.

How the Lucente is built

Achieving a flawless gloss is harder than it looks, which is why the Lucente fronts are built up in multiple lacquer coats and polished to a deep, consistent shine with no orange-peel texture. The handleless grip is either routed into the door edge or provided by a recessed aluminium rail, set at a height that is comfortable for everyone in the house. Underneath, the same robust moisture-resistant carcasses and soft-close mechanisms we use across the range keep everything running smoothly and quietly for the long term.

Colourways & finishes

White, Light Silver Grey and Deep Charcoal in high gloss, with Warm Mid Grey available to order. Every door is finished to the same exacting standard, and we are happy to mix two colours — a darker run of base units beneath a lighter island is a particularly popular way to use the Lucente.

Handles & hardware

Lucente is handleless by design. The grip is built into the door edge or provided by a recessed aluminium rail, which we can supply in a brushed-bronze tone to tie in with the accent used elsewhere in the kitchen.

Living with the Lucente

Modern gloss is far more practical than its reputation suggests. The sealed lacquer wipes clean in seconds, and because there are no handles, there are fewer grease traps and edges to catch. Pair Lucente with a quartz or sintered-stone worktop and integrated lighting and the whole room feels crisp and easy to keep. It suits busy households who want a low-maintenance, contemporary kitchen, and it is especially popular in apartments and extensions where bouncing light around the space genuinely changes how the room feels to live in. With integrated lighting, a quartz or sintered-stone worktop and a recessed bronze grip rail, the Lucente turns even a compact, north-facing room into a bright, gallery-clean space. The reflective fronts make a small kitchen feel noticeably larger, and the sealed, wipe-clean lacquer keeps that showroom finish looking crisp with very little effort.

Who it suits

Modern apartments, open-plan extensions and compact kitchens that need to feel bigger and brighter. As with all our kitchens, the Lucente is made to measure for your room, so awkward corners, sloping ceilings and chimney breasts are designed around rather than worked against.

Lucente questions

Frequently asked questions

Do gloss doors show fingerprints?
Modern lacquers are far more forgiving than older gloss finishes. A quick wipe with a soft cloth keeps them pristine, and the handleless fronts mean fewer grease traps.
Is handleless harder to open?
Not at all — the routed grip or rail gives a comfortable, full-width pull, and we set the gap so it is easy for every member of the household.
Is gloss going out of fashion?
Not in light-starved rooms — gloss remains the best way to brighten a darker kitchen. For those who prefer a softer look we also offer super-matt handleless ranges such as Stratto.
Can I have a handleless matt kitchen instead?
Yes. If you love the seamless look but not the shine, the Stratto and Rydal ranges give you the same handleless lines in a matt finish.
